I started to blog as an outlet for my need to express myself. This was launched on June 8, 2008 and so far I have been more or less regular in posting a blog every day. My blog is http://www.rummuser.com

Recently, one visitor to my blog asked my permission to link to my blog and asked me to link to her blog. I told her that I do not know how to. This is a fact.

I want to know what this means in exact terms. What benefit does one blogger get from this linking between two blogs? How is it done? Can one blogger link to other blogs without the permission of the blog owner?

In some blogs, there are permissions given to use a lot of html entries just above or below the comment box. What does this mean? What can one do with this to what benefit?

Is there a tutorial which will teach these things in a simple way to a totally green blogger who uses the computer mostly to write and receive emails and to google for information?

At the bottom of this box, there is a box for tags. Where can I get the tags that are approved. When I tried to type in my own, I got a message that said that I should use only the approved ones!

What are trackbacks? What benefit to a blogger using track backs. How does one send trackbacks?

What that blogger wanted was to exchange links with you. There are many reasons for this request but the main one being that having other websites link to you boosts the Google Pagerank of your website.

You do not need permission to link to other blogs/bloggers. If you find a blog you like to read, add to a list of favorite blogs. This list is appropriately called a blogroll.

I see that you are using WordPress. To add a link to your blogroll, click on Manage and then Links. Enter the link, title and description where appropriate. Choose a category or just use the default Blogroll category and then click save. WordPress will automatically format the link and add it to your blogroll list on your site.
