Blog Tip: Protect Your Content From Splogs

A splog or “spam blog” is a blog that steals content from other web sites, then aggregates and republishes all or some of the content on its own blog.
Splogs are created to promote and increase search engine ranking of affiliated web sites, and/or to make money from ads shown on the splog. Typically splogs are automated, but they can also be manual copy & paste.
Usually Spam Blogs (Splogs) use automatically posts from RSS Feeds using wordpress plugins. Sploggers “splog” to make money and save time taking advantage of the hard work done by thousands of authors and professionals at almost no cost.
I could give some examples of Wordpress Plugins… but I’ll not teach here how to make a Splog!
Blog Tip: 2 ways to Protect Your Content From Splogs:
1. Make use of all Feedburner options.
Feedburner allows you to offer only a short summary of your hyperlink-free content and direct your subscribers to your Web site for the rest of the story.
This is a great way to protect your content from spam blogs.
To activate this function login to your Feedburner account, go to Optimize and find Summary Burner in your sidebar:

2. Use the RSS Footer Wordpress Plugin
Another way to protect your Blog content is to use the RSS Footer Wordpress plugin which allows you to add a line of content to the end of your RSS feed articles.
Copy `rss-footer.php` to the plugins directory of your blog.
Enable the plugin in your admin panel.
An options panel will appear under Options.
Choose the line you want to add.
